This website provides an introduction to the NYC Department of Education’s
CTE schools and programs. Career and Technical Education increases options
for students by providing an enriched education that includes a rigorous academic
course of study, the development of technical skills that meet industry standards,
and hands-on learning that promotes student success. Career education also
provides students with the ability to make connections between classroom
instruction by applying knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems.
The vision and mission of Career & Technical Education supports the creation of
successful programs that connect middle and high schools with post-secondary
institutions and builds collaborations with industry and the corporate world.
The CTE website was recently updated with a fresh new design and many new and exciting features. New additions include the Success Via Apprenticeship (SVA) section, which gives an overview of the city’s apprenticeship program for Career and Technical Educators. NYC Educators should be sure to visit the Conference registration page, which gives a list of upcoming CTE Conferences and Seminars, and includes an easy-to-use online registration system. Students and Parents are encouraged to engage the many exciting and interactive features this website has to offer, such as Virtual Tours of CTE schools and Streaming Video segments produced by the department.
